Why are there so few BIPoC seen on our channels?

Why are there so few BIPoC seen on our channels?

We launched our "Run Down Racism" campaign in 2018 to draw attention to this, at that time, often overseen issue within the running community. Since then we have been constantly bringing forward our concerns about discrimination and hatred, both inside and outside of our sport, but most of all we are trying to learn and understand. The roots of racism run far deeper than large parts of society know or are willing to accept.

The fact that most of our visuals (photography and videos) show white people is an issue we are concerned about. While bigger brands simply book  Black, Indigenous and People of Color as models for their shootings to avoid being criticized, we are confronted with the truth, that our peer is not as diverse as we wish it would be. All our ‚models‘ are our friends. We don’t book them. They don’t get paid other than with love and free stuff. This means our visuals are a representation of the people we are surrounded with. This makes us feel uncomfortable, but we decided not to fake a different image by asking Black, Indigenous and People of Color we are not close friends with to model for us.

After all, it’s not the time to ASK for something, but to listen and learn. We are aware of this topic and try to find solutions.
